Doha-based OICHF to Honor Humanitarian Leaders on January 18

Doha / information office / 08 January 2017 / The Doha-based Organization of Islamic Cooperation Humanitarian Funds (OICHF) will hold an event titled the UN initiative to honor humanitarian leaders on January 18.
Held under the patronage of HE Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, the event will honor Dr Abdullah Matouq Al Matouq, an advisor to the Emir of Kuwait, and board chairman of the International Islamic Charitable Organization (IICO), on the occasion of the end of his tenure as Special Envoy of the UN Secretary General for Humanitarian Affairs. It will also honor HE Ambassador Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Muraikhi who succeeded him.
In a press statement, HE OICHF Chairman of the Board of Trustees Sheikh Dr Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan Al-Thani said that the honoring of Dr Abdullah Matouq Al Matouq and Dr Ahmed Al Muraikhi at a special celebration to be held on January 18 is in recognition of their efforts in the charitable and humanitarian fields.
He explained that the ceremony is in recognition of the great humanitarian achievements in international field in general and in OIC member states in particular by Dr Abdullah Matouq Al Matouq during his tenure as Special Envoy of the UN Secretary General for Humanitarian Affairs, adding that it is also in recognition of HE Ambassador Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Muraikhi's distinguished career in the field of international humanitarian and developmental activities both in the State of Qatar and outside it, which recently culminated in the assumption of this high-profile position.
Representatives of the UN and its humanitarian sectors, OIC, Arab League and the GCC, along with those of diplomatic corps, international and national humanitarian organizations are expected to attend the ceremony.
