Qatar Committee for Reconstruction of Gaza Begins Disbursing Cash Assistance to Needy Families

HE Chairman of the Qatar Committee for the Reconstruction of Gaza Ambassador Mohammed Al Emadi said that the Committee, in cooperation and coordination with the Qatar Fund for Development, began today the process of disbursing cash assistance to the needy families in the Gaza Strip.

Ambassador Al Emadi said that the distribution process is implemented through the post offices in the governorates of the Gaza Strip for 100,000 families, $100 per family, adding that this assistance is within the grant of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani to the Gaza Strip, at a value of $150 million.

His Excellency pointed out that the process of distributing cash assistance is carried out according to the new mechanism in cooperation with the relevant government agencies to meet safety standards for beneficiaries and to preserve sufficient distances between them, as part of preventive measures to address the outbreak of the coronavirus (COVID-19).

Ambassador Al Emadi thanked the Palestinian citizens who benefited from cash assistance, who showed their full cooperation and understanding of the safety measures followed by the competent authorities, within the instructions followed to confront the spread of the coronavirus.

Al Emadi said that the distribution process will continue for about two weeks, and that each beneficiary will be notified of the specific days and receiving dates, in order to avoid the presence of crowds at post offices, stressing that the distribution process is carried out under the full supervision of the Qatari Committee's teams and its teams are present in the distribution centers around the clock.
