Ambassador Sultan Al-Mansouri Affirms Qatari Active Role in International Organizations

HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Federal Republic of Austria, and the permanent representative to the United Nations and international organizations in Vienna Sultan Salmeen Al-Mansouri , has affirmed that the State of Qatar is an active member in the activities of international organizations in Vienna and is working to strengthen them, as its belief in the international pluralism based on the principle of sovereign equality, developing the common interests of all humanity, resolving international disputes by peaceful means, and maintaining international peace and security.

In an interview with "Al Diplomacy" magazine, Al-Mansouri, spoke about the relationship between the State of Qatar and international organizations in Vienna, and about the projects that have been implemented, and future projects.

His Excellency said that Qatar had been able to increase its role and presence in the work of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) since 2010, and one of the most important achievements of the permanent delegation in Vienna was to obtain membership of the IAEA Board of Governors, which is the political, legal and technical apparatus for policy-making and decision-making in the IAEA.

He added that Qatar is benefiting through the technical cooperation program with the IAEA in the implementation of 3 projects over the years 2020 and 2021, including a project to increase the production of fodder in salinity conditions, increase the production of vegetables in greenhouses, as well as organize quality management in medical tomography centers, and establishing a service center for internal dose measurement.

Al-Mansouri noted that the State of Qatar benefited from many workshops and training courses held by the IAEA , where technicians from various sectors are participating to develop a program in which the IAEA participates for the purpose of implementing nuclear security measures during the World Cup 2022 in Qatar, and training cadres on these procedures, and identifying Hardware equipment.

The interview also dealt with the talk about the role and presence of Qatar in the UN Industrial Development Organization UNIDO, and what this organization is doing in helping to accelerate economic growth, reduce poverty, and achieve the sustainable development goals and 2030 agenda.

Al-Mansouri said that the Qatari Mission is exploring the possibility of benefiting from UNIDO programs to establish industrial and comprehensive and sustainable projects, as well as working on cooperation and partnerships of the UNIDO Capacity Development Institute with our educational institutions and research centers to increase our ability to implement many industrial and sustainable development projects and achieve more effective results, besides coordination with the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labor and Social Affairs to hold awareness-raising workshops and programs on Qatari women's empowerment and gender equality, which aim to clarify the idea of equality between men and women.
