Qatari-Afghan Meeting in Doha Discusses Cooperation in Development, Relief Fields

A meeting was held between two delegations from the State of Qatar and the Afghan Caretaker Government, to discuss means to strengthen cooperation in several fields.
The meeting was chaired on the Qatari side by HE Assistant Foreign Minister Lolwah bint Rashid Al Khater, and on the Afghan side, by HE Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Afghan Caretaker Government Amir Khan Muttaqi.
Several Qatari bodies participated in the meeting, led by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, the Education Above All Foundation, and the Qatar Fund For Development, in addition to Qatar Charity and the Qatar Red Crescent Society.
On the Afghan side, HE Minister of Higher Education in the Afghan Caretaker Government Mawlavi Abdul Baqi Haqqani, and representatives of the Ministry of Economy and the Central Bank of Afghanistan also participated in the meeting.
During the meeting, they discussed ways to develop cooperation in the field of education, especially with regard to qualifying teachers and providing educational opportunities for Afghan students of both genders, in several fields, including Arabic language, Islamic education, economics, agriculture, and technology, in order to contribute to the rehabilitation of capable Afghan cadres.
The participating Qatari institutions expressed their desire to provide technical and material support for the educational sector in Afghanistan, in addition to continuing their support in the development and relief fields.
Moreover, the two sides also discussed opportunities to provide support from the Qatari side in the areas of development and economic empowerment of individuals. They also stressed the importance of Islamic countries' cooperation and contribution to development and relief support for the Afghan people, especially through the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
