Paris/ (QNA)/ 08 September 2013/ HE the Foreign Minister Dr. Khalid Bin Mohammad Al Attiyah participated here today in a meeting of the mini ministerial committee of the Arab Peace Initiative Committee. HE the Foreign Minister discussed the peace process with US Secretary of State John Kerry, Secretary General of the Arab League Dr. Nabil Elaraby, the foreign ministers of the Arab countries and the Palestinian Authority. At a press conference with his American counterpart, HE the Foreign Minister highlighted the need to stop the Israeli settlements in the occupied territories, saying "the continued construction by Jewish settlers is an obstacle to reaching an Israeli-Palestinian peace deal". He stressed the need for the establishment of a sovereign independent Palestinian state with and East Jerusalem as its capital. Al Attiyah also renewed his call for the international community to intervene to stop the massacres committed by the Syrian regime, who exceeded all international taboos.
