​ Qatar Concerned about Libya's Political Divisions, Security Conditions

Doha/ 19 May 2014/ A senior source at Qatar's Foreign Ministry has voiced concern at Libya's political divisions and security conditions, which undermine the democratic transition process the Libyan people aspire to. In statements to Qatar News Agency (QNA), the source called on the parties concerned to exercise self-restraint and calmness, stressing keenness on civil peace and the process of building a modern and effective state as well as completing the democratic transition process.The source has also condemned attempts to jeopardize the legitimate institutions through the use of military force, underlining the need to preserve and protect them, and the importance of reconciliation and comprehensive national dialogue with the participation of all sides so as to achieve national unity, stability and prosperity. The source reiterated Qatar's keenness on Libya's sovereignty, independence, territorial integrity, and national unity as well as the establishment of stable institutions on the basis of national interests, justice and respect for human rights and the rule of law.
