Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe Meets HE Qatar's Foreign Minister

Tokyo/ QNA/ 27 May 2014/ Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe met here on Tuesday HE Qatari Foreign Minister Dr. Khalid Bin Mohamed Al Attiyah who is now on a two-day official visit to Japan. An official source at the Qatari Ministry Of Foreign Affairs said in a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA) today that Japan thanked Qatar for the development projects it is undertaking through the Qatar-Japan Fund for the reconstruction of the areas affected by earthquakes and Tsunami which hit East Of Japan in March 2011. The said fund was launched as per a generous initiative by the Father Emir Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani at the value of US Dlrs. 100 million and is now sponsored by HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani and under the direct supervision of HE the Foreign Minister. The fund is chaired by HE Qatar's Ambassador to Japan Yusuf Mohamed Bilal. The fund is supporting several sectors such as fisheries, health care, education, technology, scientific research and entrepreneurship. HE the Foreign Minister Dr. Al Attiyah affirmed that such projects have given us the opportunity to transform with the friends in Japan to multi-sided relations stressing meantime that the Qatari leadership and at the directives of HH the Emir is duly keen to further enhance relations between the two countries. The source further said that the Qatari Foreign Minister informed the Japanese side Qatar's due keenness to exchange visits at the official and popular levels so that the Qatari citizens and their Japanese counterparts can explore and get acquainted with culture, heritage and civilization of their countries. For his part, the Japanese premier Shinzo Abe highly praised relations between the two countries and the official reciprocal visits by senior officials of the two sides describing such visits as reflecting the in-depth partnership between Qatar and Japan . Abe also highly valued Qatar's supplying Japan with energy terming such a step a key important matter for bilateral relations. A set of other issues of mutual concern and the updates in the middle east were also taken up during the meeting. The meeting was attended by a number of Japanese officials and HE Qatar's Ambassador to Japan Yusuf Mohamed Bilal.
