Qatar Continues to Send Aid to Yemen

Doha /Information Office/ 12 May 2015/ At the directives of HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, Qatar aid to the people of Yemen continued as two planes with Qatari relief assistance onboard arrived today in Djibouti–Ambouli International Airport. The two planes carried 120 tons of varied relief materials and were escorted by members of the Qatari Research and Rescue Team (Lekhwiya). Two more planes with 120 tons of aid will arrive tomorrow, bringing the total aid delivered in two days to 240 tons. HE Qatar's Ambassador to Djibouti Jassim Jaber Jassim Souror and a delegation from the Embassy as well as Djibouti and Yemeni officials were present to receive the planes and facilitate the transportation of the Qatari assistance by sea to the Yemeni people. Last April, Qatar sent two planes carrying aid to Yemeni people, including 66 tons of food stuff and medicines. They were received by Yemeni Foreign Minister Riyadh Yaseen in Djibouti Airport. The permanent research and rescue and humanitarian assistance committee, headed by Lekhwiya, assumed the task of coordinating with the authorities concerned and prepared relief assistance, which includes a variety of relief materials and items.
