Qatar Ambassador to U.S.: 2022 World Cup Will be Best Ever

Washington D.C. /Information Office/ 06 June 2015/ Qatar is ready to invest part of its $35-billion U.S. investment fund in West Virginia, HE Qatar's Ambassador to the United States Mohamed Jaham Al Kuwari said on the sidelines of his visit to the state. He added that Qatar has already pledged $50,000 for a project in West Virginia to improve education in McDowell County, noting that he will bring a group of Qatari investors and businessmen to the state in September to listen to proposals on investments there. HE the ambassador said that Qatari investors are interested in investing in the fields of tourism, real estate, education and energy, stressing that he held productive talks with the business community in West Virginia. He also invited Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia and Governor Earl Ray Tomblin as well as business society representatives to visit Doha. Qatar has recently opened an investment office in New York. Asked about the ongoing investigation on FIFA corruption charges, HE Al Kuwari said Qatar is open to any probe because "we did the right thing...we have nothing to fear." "We will show to the whole world that Qatar World Cup will be the best in the world," he said, adding that preparations for the World Cup have already started and all its facilities will be ready two or three years before the tournament.
