Doha /Information Office/ 08 June 2015/ The State of Qatar is taking part in the United Nation Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), currently underway in the German city of Bonn. Qatar's delegation to the meeting, which will continue until June 11, includes members from many bodies government organizations, namely the ministries of foreign affairs, transport and economy and trade as well as Qatar General Electricity Corporation(Kahramaa), the Civil Aviation Authority and Qatar Petroleum. The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change is an international environmental treaty (currently the only international climate policy venue with broad legitimacy, due in part to its virtually universal membership)[2] negotiated at the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED), informally known as the Earth Summit, held in Rio de Janeiro from 3 to 14 June 1992. The objective of the treaty is to "stabilize greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere at a level that would prevent dangerous anthropogenic interference with the climate system.
