Qatari Envoy Meets Members of Independent International Commission of Inquiry on Syria

Geneva/Information Office/ 17 June 2015/ HE Qatar's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva Ambassador Faisal bin Abdullah Al-Henzab has expressed concerned about the continuing deterioration of the human rights situation and humanitarian conditions of the fraternal Syrian people under the regime's intransigence and its insistence on the continued killings and destruction and use of explosive barrels and toxic gases. HE Ambassador Al-Henzab stressed during a meeting with members of the Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Syrian Arab Republic, the importance of supporting efforts to reach a political solution to the crisis, according to the statement, of the Syrian crisis Geneva (March 2012) in a way that ensures security, stability and territorial integrity of Syria and meets the aspirations of the brotherly Syrian people. He stressed the need to continue supporting all the international efforts to deliver humanitarian assistance to all in need, and to support efforts to assist and protect displaced people and refugees. The Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Syrian Arab Republic was established on 22 August 2011 by the Human Rights Council through resolution S-17/1 adopted at its 17th special session with a mandate to investigate all violations of international human rights law since March 2011 in the Syrian Arab Republic.
