Qatar Participates in Ministerial Meeting on Limiting Use of Veto Power in Mass Atrocities

New York /Information Office/ 01 October 2015/ HE Assistant Foreign Minister for International Cooperation Affairs Sheikh Mohamad bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani participated in the ministerial meeting on limiting the use of veto power in the situations of mass atrocities. The meeting was held in New York on the sidelines of the 70th session of the United Nations General Assembly at the invitation of the foreign ministers of France and Mexico. The meeting discussed the challenges facing the international community regarding the growing atrocities in many parts of the world as well as the responsibility of the members of the Security Council to put an end to them as they posed a flagrant violation of the purposes of the Charter of the United Nations. It also highlighted the egregious crimes and humanitarian disaster faced by the Syrian people which represent the most serious challenge to the international community and as the situation in Syria is a challenge to the human conscience.
