Qatar Takes Part In Climate Change Conference in Bonn

Bonn/ Information Office/20 October 2015/ Qatar is participating in the 11th part of the second session of the Ad Hoc Working Group on the Durban Platform for Enhanced Action (ADP), being currently held in Bonn and runs until 23 October 2015. This meeting is to precede the 21st session of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change 2015 which will take place in Paris, France, by the end of this year in order to reach a new agreement binding all parties towards climate change. Qatar's delegation to the meeting comprises the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Transport , Environment, Economy and Commerce, Municipality and Urban Planning along with General Electricity and Water Corporation (KAHRAMAA), Civil Aviation Authority and Qatar Petroleum. A set of most important topics such as adapting to the impacts of climate change, losses, damages , mitigation of greenhouse gas emissions, technology development and transfer , transparency of the procedures and support the course of action (an ambitious pre-2020) and implementation, commitment and purpose and some procedural matters will be discussed during the meeting . Participants seek to bring different views on the table and translate into negotiating texts acceptable to all parties, which will facilitate the negotiation process in Paris. The Qatari delegation discussed ways to strengthen coordination with other countries through meetings of the Arab Group and the Group of 77 and China and other negotiating groups.(
