QATAR, US TO HOLD TALKS IN WASHINGTON

Washington/ Information Office/ 24 October 2015/ The US Department of State announced today that Washington on Monday will host Qatari-US talks between the two countries' Ministers of Economy and Foreign Affairs. The talks aim at promoting economic relations and mutual investments. The US State Department said in a statement that Secretary of State John Kerry, Secretary of Treasury Jacob Lew, HE Qatar's Foreign Minister Dr. Khalid bin Mohammed Al Attiyah, HE Qatar's Minister of Finance Ali bin Shareef Al Emadi and CEO of Qatar Investment Authority HE Sheik Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Saud Al-Thani will open discussions on economic and investment relations between the two countries in the coming years. The US State Department noted that these talks between the United States and the State of Qatar in the fields of economy and investment, come to highlight the close cooperation between the two countries and help develop a mechanism for strengthening investment and economic relations in the future. The two countries as strategic partners, their talks are a milestone that deepens bilateral relations, which reached record stages, the statement added. The statement pointed out that the State of Qatar opened an office of Qatar Investment Authority last September to invest USD 35 billion in the United States during the next five years, adding that US companies in Qatar are contributing to the Qatari development strategy and achieving success in many areas.
