Arab Group Seeks to Increase its Share in UNIDO Projects

Vienna/Information Office/02 December 2015/ The Arab Group at the United Nations seeks to increase its Share in United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) projects and developmental prorammes. . In a statement delivered by HE Qatar's Permanent Representative to the International Organizations Ambassador Ali Khalfan Al Mansouri, who is also Chairman of Council of Arab Ambassadors in Vienna before the 16th General Conference Session of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), the group called for consultation with Member States, especially those concerned with restructuring, and implementation of national projects adopted by the organization in the Arab States in accordance with the needs of each state and its level of development so as to promote economic and social development. The Group also stressed the need to create job opportunities with priority given to women and youth, and support entrepreneurial projects, with a focus on the most needy areas at the national level ,eradicating poverty, capacity building , industry and innovation. The Group described its relations with UNIDO as strong and looking forward to further steps to cement this strategic cooperation. It expressed confidence that the conference represents an important opportunity for constructive discussions, focusing on major challenges that pose obstacles to the manufacturing process in its countries and the need for a financial support to achieve higher levels of technical and scientific cooperation.
