Qatar-Kuwait Joint High-Level Cooperation Committee Meets in Doha

Doha /Information Office/ 11 January 2015/ The 4th session of the joint high-level cooperation committee between Qatar and Kuwait was held today in Doha and co-chaired by HE Foreign Minister Dr Khaled bin Mohamed Al Attiyah and HE Kuwaiti First Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah. In his opening remarks, HE Al Attiyah said this meeting reaffirmed our determination to consolidate and strengthen the fraternal relations between the two countries to implement the directives of HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, and HH the Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. HE Dr Al Attiyah underscored the historic deeply rooted ties between the two countries in various political, economic, social and cultural aspects, pointing out that this could would have been impossible without the continued determination and will of the leaderships of both countries and their peoples. HE Foreign Minister said that the changes facing the world in general and Arab world in particular require both countries to continue to promote bilateral cooperation, coordination and integration in line with the aspirations of their peoples and within the framework of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC) and within the Arab framework. The great and tremendous development witnessed by both countries in all areas reflects the role and the growing importance of this committee, he said, reiterating its role in promoting all aspects of cooperation between the two countries. He called for the activation of the agreements and memoranda of understanding which will be signed during the meeting, wishing success to the Committee's meeting in attaining the aspiration of the two brotherly countries and their peoples. At the outset of his speech, HE Al Attiyah welcomed Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah and his accompanying delegation and expressed his thanks and appreciation to the members of the preparatory committee for their efforts and good preparation for this session. For his part, Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah stressed that holding this session clearly reflects the keenness on developing and enhancing the fraternal ties between Qatar and Kuwait so as to reach the mutual interests and develop them on all fronts in interpretation to the ambitions and directives of the wise leadership in both countries. Addressing the meeting, Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled said the session carries on with what was achieved in the previous sessions, noting that it established a basic approach and a strong pillar in strengthening the fraternal and historical relations between the two countries, and painted a safer and brighter future for the two peoples. He added that the signing of nine bilateral documents will culminate the session to take the total of agreements and memoranda of understanding between the two countries to 24, which, he added, will contribute to enhancing and promoting the existing deep ties and push bilateral cooperation to wider horizons. The Kuwaiti first deputy prime minister stressed that the economic side is a key focus in strengthening the ties of bilateral cooperation between the two countries in order to establish the principle of economic partnership between them, expressing pride that joint investments between the two countries amounted to more than $7 billion across the different sectors. He noted that in the light of this developed network of strong relations politically, economically and socially at the bilateral fraternal level, the two countries seek to activate and boost cooperation in order to reach the highest levels and explore wider arenas in support of the march of the strong and deep relations between them. After that, HE Dr. Khaled bin Mohamed Al Attiyah and Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah signed nine bilateral documents in the different areas of cooperation between the two fraternal countries.
