 Foreign Ministry Announces Release of Qatari Citizen and Companion Kidnapped in Iraq

Doha/Information Office/ 05 April 2016/Qatar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced Wednesday the release of a Qatari citizen and his Asian companion who were kidnapped in Iraq while on a hunting trip last December. The Foreign Ministry said in a statement that HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani is keen on ensuring the safety of the citizens, adding that HH directed to exert every effort for the release of the kidnapped Qatari citizens. The statement said that efforts are still ongoing to free the rest of the 26 kidnapped, expressing Qatar's hope that these efforts will be crowned with success.
