Qatar Keen on Enhancing Stability Through Financing Development

New York/ Information Office/ 22 April 22016/ The State of Qatar's national vision laid the foundations that link security and stability on one side with development efforts on the other. This was part of Qatar's statement at the United Nations Economic and Social Council's forum. Director of International Development Department at Qatar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ahmed bin Mohamed Al Muraikhi. The Director of International Development said that Qatar is keen on backing development efforts through foreign aid and other forms of financing. Al Muraikhi said that today's meeting comes at a time were the international community is facing tremendous challenges such as inequality, poverty and hunger. He noted that the lack of stability in the global financial markets and the effect the global financial crisis is still having on emerging economies pose a threat to the achievements made in the field of financing for development. He called on the international community to work harder together to enhance finance for development. Al Muraikhi highlighted that Qatar National Vision 2030 prioritizes that the country becomes an active member in the international community, particularly through commitment to development projects. He added that the vision for Qatar is to be an active partner internationally in the field of financing for development.
