Baku/Information Office/ 07 May 2016/ President Ilham Aliyev of the Republic of Azerbaijan has awarded the Presidential Medal of First Class to HE Nasser bin Abdulaziz Al-Nasser, the High Representative of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations, in recognition of his efforts in promoting the culture of peace and dialogue among civilizations at the global level in general, and between the UN organization and Azerbaijan in particular. The President Ilham Aliyev and HE Nasser bin Abdulaziz Al-Nasser opened the Seventh International Conference of the Alliance of Civilizations in Baku on April 26 which continued for two days, and concluded with the issuance of " Baku Declaration" which was adopted by the Member States, and focused on the concept of co-existence and respect of others, respect for religions and acceptance of cultural and civilizational diversity with special emphasis on the role of education in promoting these concepts. The Seventh International Conference of the Alliance of Civilizations witnessed a large and effective participation at the level of Heads of State and Government, Foreign Ministers and a group of politicians, journalists and opinion makers and thought.
