Paris/Information Office/ 09 May 2016/ HE Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani participated in the ministerial meeting on Syria, which was held Monday in Paris. The meeting reviewed the recent developments in Syria, particularly the ongoing efforts to stop hostilities and means of delivering humanitarian aid to the Syrian people. During the meeting, HE the foreign minister stressed the need to take the necessary measures to reach a settlement for the Syrian crisis in line with Geneva I Communique and U.N. Security Council Resolution 2254. HE reaffirmed the international community's need to shoulder its responsibilities in protecting civilians, especially in light of the serious humanitarian conditions facing the Syrian people. The meeting comprised Saudi Arabia, Turkey, France, the United States, Germany, the United Kingdom, Jordan and Italy. The head of the Syrian opposition's supreme negotiations committee was also present.
