Qatar Strongly Condemns Use of Chemical Weapons in Syria

Doha/ information office / 01 September 2016 / The State of Qatar has strongly condemned the use of chemical weapons by the Syrian regime and the ISIS group in Syria, following the findings released by the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW)-UN Joint Investigative Mechanism (JIM) on August 30. An official source at Qatar's Foreign Ministry said that the results of the investigation refutes completely and undoubtedly the continuous denial of the Syrian regime about using chemical weapons against civilians, in a blatant violation of the international law and international instruments, particularly the Chemical Weapons Convention and the relevant decisions of the United Nations. The source expressed Qatar's hope that the results would mark a turning point in the international position towards take immediate and effective measures to protect the Syrian people, and renewed Qatar's demand to bring to justice all those responsible for this heinous crime, and all war crimes and crimes against humanity committed in Syria.
