Qatari Foreign Minister Participates in Friends of Syria Group Ministerial Meeting

London/Information Office/07 September 2016/ Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani participated in the meeting of Foreign ministers from the Friends of Syria group hosted by the British capital, London today. During the meeting, the supreme body of the negotiations to the forces of the revolution and the Syrian opposition announced comprehensive vision for the future of Syria, including the operational framework for a political solution and transition process, according to the Geneva statement and the UN Security Council resolution No. 2254 calling for establishing a transitional ruling body with full executive powers, in order to end the crisis in Syria and achieve the aspirations of the Syrian people. In discussions during the meeting HE the Qatari Foreign Minister expressed his appreciation for all the efforts made by the supreme body of the negotiations for the revolutionary forces and the opposition National Coalition to form a comprehensive and objective vision of the future of Syria. HE the Minister stressed the importance of protecting the Syrian people, in light of the siege imposed by the regime on the Syrian cities and the bombing of civilians and infrastructure, and the adoption of demographic change policy through forced displacement in Darayya and the neighbourhood of al-Waer in the central city of Homs and other Syrian cities. He urged the international community to implement the UN-related resolutions in order to alleviate the suffering of the Syrian people, and to achieve their aspirations for freedom and dignity.
