Qatari Humanitarian Aid for Besieged Areas in Syria

Doha\ InformationOffice\13 September 2016\ The Qatar Development Fund (QDF) sent humanitarian convoys directed to the besieged areas within Syria, on the first day of the ceasefire in country. The convoys were dispatched in in collaboration with Qatari humanitarian organizations and in coordination with United Nations organizations active in the field, in an effort to alleviate the suffering of the civilian victims of the five-year-long bloody conflict. The QDF move comes in the wake of the unprecedented growing humanitarian needs in Syria as a result of heightened clashes and the continuing humanitarian crisis, which caused the deaths of hundreds of thousands and displaced millions of Syrians. A cease-fire agreement in Syria went into effect starting the first day of Eid Al-Adha in order to create safe paths for the delivery of humanitarian aid to the besieged areas.
