Qatar Underlines Importance Role of Youth in Development and Stability

Geneva/ Information Office/ 22 September 2016/ The State of Qatar has underlined the importance role to be played by the youth in the development, stability and progress in all societies, pointing out that the enjoyment of human rights, and providing them with adequate opportunities to participate actively in all walks of life and strengthen their role. This came in a speech delivered by Abdulla Khalifa Al Suwaidi, Third secretary at the Permanent Delegation in Geneva at the Human Rights Council in its 33rd session, during a panel discussion on youth and human rights. Al Suwaidi said Qatar has paid remarkable attention to young people, through education and training, which is one of the key State's priorities, by the establishment of public and specialized youth centres as means to develop their abilities and enhance their skills. As part of empowering young people and listen to their ideas and opinions on the most important issues that touch their reality and their needs the first Qatari Youth Forum was opened, organized by the Ministry of Culture and Sports in February, he said adding that the forum had provided a valuable opportunity for young people to express their creativity and interests that aim to address their issues and working on community service in general.
