Qatar Fund for Development Signs Agreement with OICHF

Doha/Information Office/04 October 2016/ Qatar Fund for Development has signed a grant agreement with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Humanitarian Funds (OICHF). Under the agreement, humanitarian funds will receive a financial grant to support programs of capacity building and economic empowerment in OICHF member states. The three-year agreement was signed by HE General Manager of Qatar Fund for Development (QFD) Khalifa bin Jassim Al Kuwari, and HE Chairman of the OICHF Board of Trustees Sheikh Dr Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani. The agreement aims to support humanitarian projects implemented by the OICHF in the OIC member states, especially in the most needy areas where inhabitants suffer from poverty and diseases. On this occasion, HE General Manager of Qatar Fund for Development Khalifa bin Jassim Al Kuwari said that Qatar is interested in the areas of development and humanitarian action, economic empowerment and education sector, and continues its quest to support the parties involved in the implementation and supervision of projects related to these areas. Out of the importance of the role played by the OICHF in building capacity of those working in the humanitarian action, economic empowerment and education, this partnership between Qatar Fund for Development and the OICHF was formed to serve the areas of humanitarian work, Al Kuwair added. For his part, HE Chairman of the OICHF Board of Trustees Sheikh Dr Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani said that this agreement is a prelude to cooperation and sustainable partnership between the OICHF and Qatar Fund for Development, especially since the QFD is proactive in supporting humanitarian and development projects in the Arab and Islamic countries.
