Foreign Minister Meets U.S. Counterpart

Rome/Information Office/ 02 December 2016/ HE Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani on Friday met U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry on the sidelines of the second edition of the Mediterranean Dialogues Conference, currently underway in Rome.
The meeting reviewed bilateral relations between the two countries, means of boosting and developing them and enhancing aspects of cooperation, in addition to a set of regional and international issues of mutual interest.
The two sides exchanged points of view on the latest developments on the Syrian front, particularly the situation in Aleppo, and the deteriorating humanitarian conflict as the regime continues to bomb civilians. They also touched on ways of protecting civilians and finding a political solution for the crisis.
The foreign minister reiterated Qatar's commitment to supporting the Syrian people in the struggle to achieve their ambitions and aspirations.
HE also stressed Qatar's keenness on contributing to the efforts exerted to provide assistance for Syrian refugees and alleviate their suffering.
