Sofia / Information Office / June 23

HE Qatar's Ambassador to Bulgaria Rashid bin Ali Al Khater said that the differences between the sisterly countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) must be resolved through dialogue, stressing the need for an open session for putting forward views, identifying points of difference working to bridge the gaps while respecting the views of each other.

In an interview with Bulgarian (24 Hours) newspaper, HE the Ambassador said that the State of Qatar is making every effort to contain the crisis through frank dialogue with the brothers in the GCC, pointing out that the Gulf crisis has reflections on family relations and that people in the region do not support the siege.

HE Ambassador Rashid bin Ali Al Khater stressed that that arbitrary procedures and restrictions imposed on Qatar are unprecedented. He pointed out that the crisis broke out after the cyber hack on the website of Qatar News Agency (QNA) and publishing false and baseless statements attributed to HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani. Following that fabrications were published accusing Qatar of supporting terrorism, while in reality the State of Qatar is among the most important partners in the fight against extremism and terrorism, he said adding that the US President Donald Trump praised Qatar during the Riyadh summit.

He pointed out that there are many mixed marriages in the Gulf countries and in light of what is happening right now, these family relations have been affected, causing failure in education of a number of students, forcing people to leave their jobs and preventing their movement among these countries. He stressed that the peoples of the region do not support the siege on the State of Qatar.

HE Ambassador also denied that the siege imposed on the State of Qatar by Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates has caused crises, saying "It has rather accelerated the production in Qatari companies."
