Regaining Trust in GCC Will Take A Long Time, Foreign Minister Says

HE the Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani said Tuesday that regaining trust between GCC members will take a long time, as a result of the diplomatic crisis taking over the council for the past two months.

His Excellency said in a statement today that the State of Qatar was one of the council's founding countries and still consider it an important organization in the region.

HE the Foreign Minister said that the council was founded on the concept of strategic security and on trust, His Excellency added however that the latter was lost as a result of the recent crisis. HE the Foreign Minister said that building trust will require a long time, expressing hope that it can be regained.

HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani said that the GCC was the most stable region of the Arab World, and is now suffering from instability due to a baseless crisis. HE the Foreign Minister called on the besieging countries to present proof that back their accusations, adding that 72 days have passed since their measures yet they have not presented any documents.
