Foreign Minister Meets UN Secretary-General's Humanitarian Envoy

HE Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani met on Tuesday with HE UN Secretary-General's Humanitarian Envoy Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Muraikhi.

The meeting discussed the relations between the State of Qatar and the United Nations, in addition to topics of common concern.

HE the Foreign Minister said the State of Qatar is committed to support the UN's efforts in seeking to highlight humanitarian crises and is looking forward to further cooperate with the UN in the field of humanitarian aid, especially in areas of conflict.

On his part, Al Muraikhi appreciated Qatar's support to the UN, especially the $40 million cooperation agreement between Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) and Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).

While praising the ongoing partnerships between humanitarian organizations and the State of Qatar, Al Muraikhi praised Qatar's efforts in the humanitarian field.

He highlighted the importance of the top donors for Syria meeting, which will be held in Doha on October 18, looking forward to the launch of the Global Humanitarian Review from Doha. The review will highlight the humanitarian needs for 2018.
