Qatar Embassy in Germany Participates in Round Table on Gulf Crisis

The Embassy of the State of Qatar in Germany participated in round table talks on the economic impact of the unjust siege imposed on Qatar, and the lessons learnt on the ways economic cooperation can prevent falling into such crises in the future, at the invitation of the Association of German Chambers of Commerce and Industry.

HE Qatar's Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani said the State of Qatar benefited from the experience and acted maturely towards highlighting the lessons learnt especially regarding opening the Qatari economy for initiatives and investments for all with no exceptions. HE the Ambassador also said Qatar learnt to diversify its sources of national income, achieve economic independency as part of bilateral relations by cooperating with other countries based on common interest and mutual respect.

HE the Ambassador confirmed the importance of what he called "trade diplomacy" and the role it can play to defuse and perpetuate political crises in their infancy before they actually emerge.

The round table discussions included prominent political and economic German figures including Mareike Koller from the German Chancellery; Miguel Berger, director of the department of economic affairs and sustainable development at the German Federal Foreign Office; Dr. Tilo Klinner, director for international economic, trade and financial policy, and technology policy at the Federal Foreign Office; Daniel Leimner from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy; Dr. Peter Ramsauer, president of Ghorfa Arab-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The round table talk was also attended by more than 30 representatives from large companies and German economic corporations as well as Kathrin Lemke representative at German Industry and Commerce Office Qatar.
