Qatar's Ambassador to Russia: Kuwait Summit New Beginning of Dialogue

HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Russian Federation Fahad bin Mohammed Al Attiyah said that holding the Gulf summit in Kuwait is a new beginning of a dialogue, expressing belief that the summit could solve the Gulf crisis in the event of good intentions.

In an interview with Russian news agency Sputnik, HE the ambassador said he thinks it will be the beginning of a new breakthrough for dialogue as all parties come around the table to talk. "Are they are coming under external pressures or with their own volition? We do not know," he said, noting that there may be pressures coming from outside on them to sit together.

HE Qatar's ambassador to Russia said that he doesn't think there is room for a quick resolution of the crisis. He added that if they come of their own accord, the situation will change. He noted that this will be a sign that there is a good intention to engage in dialogue and not to solve the problem. He pointed out that commitment to dialogue may solve the problem, adding that coming from the top would be better.

HE Al Attiyah explained that the summit will be a beginning to sit to the dialogue table which, for four decades, was the table of the Gulf Cooperation Council through which the members discussed problems and tried to understand each other. "Unfortunately, this table was not strong enough to prevent the situation that we are in."

On the beneficiary among Gulf states from the crisis, HE the ambassador clarified that as HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani said in his speech at the opening of the new session of the Advisory Council, everyone is losing.

HE Al Attiyah added that the beneficiary is the one who wants to destabilize the security of the region and make it preoccupied with itself rather than be concerned with developing itself and facing risks, whether internal or external. He said that the ultimate beneficiary is Israel at the end because it believes that the Arab world must be weaker politically and economically, reiterating that everyone is losing.
