Qatar's Ambassador to Germany Lectures on Doha's Economic Situation, Investment Opportunities

Berlin – Information Office – 06 December

HE the State of Qatar's Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani gave a lecture before the German businessmen association for small- and medium-sized enterprises.

Speaking about the economic situation, the investment opportunities and the safe investment atmosphere in the country, HE the ambassador said that the State of Qatar was one of the first oil-producing Middle East countries to recognize early enough the necessity of moving from oil-based to knowledge-based economy. Hence, he added, Doha sought to diversify its national economy sources and integrate in the global economy in order to boost the competitiveness of its national economy.

HE Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani said that this realization stemmed from a genuine political will to change economic structures because only political will is able to direct new projects and investments to move towards a knowledge economy so as to keep pace with contemporary developments.

Stemming from Qatar National Vision 2030, HE the ambassador said, Doha has worked to provide the appropriate investment atmosphere through a series of investment-attracting laws and legislations.

HE the ambassador gave a detailed presentation about Hamad Port, which, he said, will be a transforming factor towards achieving economic diversification, especially as it is one of the largest ports in the Gulf and the Middle East besides its huge capacity, which would transform Qatar into a regional trade hub, support the state's strategic inventory of basic needs, and reduce the cost of importing.
