Qatar's Ambassador to Mexico : 2022 World Cup to Highlight Cultural Aspect and Progress Witnessed by State in Many Areas

HE Ambassador of State of Qatar to the United Mexican States Dr. Ahmed bin Abdullah Al-Kuwari has said that Qatar's hosting of the 2022 World Cup will be an important opportunity to highlight the cultural aspect and the progress witnessed by the State in many areas.

In an interview with AAPA UNAM, the Cultural Academy Magazine in Mexico, HE Ambssador Al-Kuwari said that the construction work and the infrastructure to host the World Cup were now very advanced in order to accommodate large numbers of tourists, pointing out that the State of Qatar is distinguished in organizing major events.

The interview touched upon important sides including relations between the State of Qatar and Mexico in areas of airspace, tourism, business, and education.

The Ambassador pointed to the importance of the role played by universities in the advancement and development of society, stressing the interest and huge support of the State of Qatar for education, in which it ranks fourth in the world at the level of education.

HE Ambassador Al Kuwari said that relations between the State of Qatar and Mexico have developed significantly through the official visit of HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani to Mexico in November 2015 and the visit of HE President Enrique Pena Nieto of the United Mexican States, which resulted in several agreements in various fields covering economy, education, media, culture and trade.

Qatar Airways is making cargo flights between Doha and Mexico City and has focused on both countries' efforts to boost passenger air transport, he added.

HE the Ambassador stressed the importance of the State of Qatar as a distinctive tourist and economic destination in the Middle East due to the development witnessed in various fields, including tourism conferences, cultural tourism, social and economic development and the services provided by the State to tourists, noting that the Mexican tourist does not need a visa to enter the country, which he or she can obtain directly upon arrival at Hamad International Airport.
