The State of Qatar has strongly condemned and denounced the hostage-taking of a shop in southern France and its unfortunate consequences that caused killing and injuring a number of people.

In a statement today, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed Qatar's shock at this terrible crime and affirmed its full solidarity with the French government and its full support for all measures taken to maintain security and stability.

The statement reiterated Qatar's firm stance rejecting violence and terrorism regardless of motives and reasons.

The Foreign Ministry expressed Qatar's condolences to the families of the victims, the government and the people of France, wishing the injured a speedy recovery.
