Qatar, UNIDO Discuss Development of Cooperation

HE Sheikh Ali bin Jassim Al-Thani, the State of Qatar's ambassador to the Republic of Austria and permanent envoy to the U.N. organizations in Vienna, met with HE U.N. Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) Director General, Li Yong.

The meeting reviewed means of boosting the existing cooperation ties between the State of Qatar and UNIDO, and ways of benefiting from the organization's programs in the fields of industrial development and technical cooperation, particularly in relation to food industries and energy.

During the meeting, HE the ambassador reiterated the State of Qatar's support for U.N. Sustainable Development Goals 2020 and 2030, especially UNIDO's efforts to achieve these goals.

He also highlighted Doha's keenness to effectively participate in the meetings of UNIDO decision-making bodies through high-level delegations from the Ministry of Energy and Industry so as to enhance technical cooperation and partnership between the State of Qatar and UNIDO.

HE Sheikh Ali bin Jassim Al-Thani expressed the State of Qatar's appreciation for UNIDO secretary general's efforts to restructure the organization in order to develop its work and help it in carrying out its mandate, particularly under the current financial situation the organization is going through.
