The State of Qatar Participates in Paris Meeting on Libya

The State of Qatar participated Tuesday in the meeting on Libya held at the Elysee Palace in Paris, in the presence of French President Emmanuel Macron.

Representing the State of Qatar at the meeting was HE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Soltan bin Saad Al Muraikhi.

The meeting, in addition to the representatives of 20 countries, included four Libyan delegations headed by Chairman of the Presidential Council Faiz Al Sarraj, President of the Libyan House of Representatives Aqila Saleh, President of the High Council of State Khalid Al Mishri and General Khalifa Hafter, with the aim of drafting a road map for the elections.

The Joint Statement issued at the end of the meeting at the Elysee Palace confirmed the commitment of the parties to lay the constitutional foundations for the elections and to adopt the necessary electoral laws by September 16 of 2018 and to hold parliamentary and presidential elections on December 10 of the same year.
