Qatar Participates in Arab Committee Meeting on Development of Arab League

The open-ended Arab Committee on the Development of the Arab League held a meeting Wedensday at the level of Permanent Representatives.

The State of Qatar was represented by Deputy Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the Arab League Hassan Al Mutawa.

Assistant Secretary-General of the Arab League for Legal Affairs Ambassador Fadel Jawad said that the meeting was held in implementation of the decision of the last Arab Summit in Dhahran to mandate the open-ended committee to prepare a comprehensive assessment of what has been achieved in the development and modernization of the Arab League, and to review what has been accomplished by the four working teams charged with the development and modernization of the Arab League and its organs.

In statements after the meeting, Ambassador Jawad said that each of the four teams presented a report on the achievements accomplished so far, noting that it was agreed to resume the meetings of the four working teams in order to complete the remaining tasks in the process of development and modernization of the organs of the Arab League.

The participants also agreed to hold another meeting of the Committee before the Arab League Council meeting at the level of foreign ministers, scheduled in September, in order to review the achievements of the four working teams and put recommendations to be submitted to the Arab foreign ministers, he added.
