HE the Special Envoy of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Mutlaq bin Majid Al Qahtani met with HE UN Secretary-General's Special Representative for Afghanistan Tadamichi Yamamoto, who is currently visiting the country.

During the meeting, they discussed developments in Afghanistan as well as efforts to bring peace to Afghanistan and enhance prospects for joint cooperation.

HE the Special Envoy of the Minister of Foreign Affairs affirmed Qatar's continued efforts to find a peaceful solution to the Afghan crisis, pointing out that there is no military solution to the crisis. He stressed the need to strengthen international and regional coordination to achieve peace in Afghanistan.

For his part, HE UN Secretary-General's Special Representative for Afghanistan praised the efforts of the State of Qatar and its good offices in order to achieve peace in Afghanistan and a ceasefire between the Afghan government and the Taliban movement.
