Qatar, Gambia Sign $3 Million Grant Agreement

The State of Qatar and the Republic of The Gambia signed a grant agreement worth $ 3 million at the Embassy of the State of Qatar in Banjul to promote transitional justice, the rule of law and the establishment of a comprehensive system of democracy in The Gambia.

HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Republic of The Gambia Faisal bin Fahad Al Mana and HE Gambian Minister of Agriculture Lamin Dibba, on behalf of the Minister of Finance, signed the agreement.

HE Ambassador Al Mana explained that the Qatari support for The Gambia came in fulfillment of Qatar's commitment to the new government of The Gambia during the donor conference in Brussels in May.

He stressed that the two countries will strengthen their cooperation in the coming years in support of the distinguished bilateral relations for the benefit of the two friendly peoples.

HE the Ambassador said that the relations between the State of Qatar and the Republic of The Gambia have made significant progress recently in several fields. He pointed out that several agreements have been signed in the field of double taxation, employment and maritime navigation.

HE Lamin Dibba thanked the State of Qatar, praising its financial and moral support for The Gambia democratic process.

HE Gambian Attorney General and Minister of Justice Abubacarr Tambadou, HE Gambian Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance Lamin Camara, and HE Gambian Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture Ada Gaye attended the signing ceremony.
