Delegation from Uruguay Learns about Qatar's Experience in Integration and Teaching of Students with Special Needs

An educational delegation from the Oriental Republic of the Uruguay is currently visiting Doha to learn about the experience of the State of Qatar in the integration and teaching of students with learning disabilities and people with special needs in various categories(deaf and dumb, blind and the visually impaired).

The visit also represents an opportunity to inform the concerned authorities at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education of the experience of Uruguay in the mentioned educational fields and the services available within it.

A meeting between the delegation and Assistant Undersecretary for Educational Affairs at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education Fawzia Al Khater offered a presentation on the mechanism of the integration in the public schools in Qatar and the services provided, in addition to the role of the the Special Education and Gifted Education Department in the Ministry in this regard.

Al Khater said that the Ministry of Education and Higher Education will organize in the future a number of visits to countries with excellent educational experience, noting that a team from the Special Education and Gifted Education Department recently visited Finland and Sweden to learn about their experience in the integration process.

She noted that Sweden is considered one of the most important and developed countries in the care of people with special needs, noting that the Ministry has other plans to attract various competencies from different countries to benefit from diverse and unique experience in the field of specialized education and good practices in special education.

For his part, HE Ambassador of Uruguay to Qatar Dr. Jorge Antonio Sere Sturzenegger extended thanks to the State of Qatar for receiving his country's educational delegation, headed by Director of the National Education Department of the Ministry of Education and Culture of Uruguay.

HE the Ambassador praised the great support offered by the State of Qatar under the leadership of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani to education for all citizens and residents, especially the interest in educating the student with special needs and integrating them.

The delegation visited Roua Assessment Advice and Support Center in Al Thumama, where its was briefed on the center's vision and objectives in terms of meeting the needs of students of additional educational support, their teachers and their parents in the area of evaluation, counseling and support.
