Qatar Provides $500,000 Grant to Uganda to Organize and Host Third South Summit

The State of Qatar provided a grant of $500,000 through Qatar Fund For Development (QFFD) for the Republic of Uganda to organize and host the Third South Summit in 2019.

The signing ceremony of the agreement was held at the Headquarters of the Permanent Mission of the State of Qatar to the United Nations in New York.

HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the UN Sheikha Alia Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani signed the agreement on behalf of Qatar Fund For Development, while it was signed on behalf of Uganda by its Representative to the UN HE Ambassador Adonia Ayebare.

The grant comes as part of Qatar's efforts to support the countries of the South and to strengthen international cooperation and partnership which is an essential actor for sustainable development.

The State of Qatar hosted the Second South Summit in 2005.
