Qatar Partakes in Council of Arab Social Affairs Ministers' Meeting

The State of Qatar participated in the 38th Session of the Council of Arab Social Affairs Ministers in Egyptian city of Sharm El Sheikh on Wednesday.

Qatar's delegation was headed by HE Ambassador Ibrahim bin Abdulaziz Al Sahlawi, the Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the Arab League.

During the session, the Council discusses a number of items on its agenda, including the preparation of the social files for the Arab summit in Tunis in 2019 and the fourth economic and social development summit in Lebanon next year.

The Council is also following up the implementation of the social elements of the sustainable development goals 2030 through the eradication of multi-dimensional poverty in the Arab countries and the rights of persons with disabilities within the framework of sustainable development plan 2030.

The Council also reviews the participation of the Council of Arab Social Affairs Ministers in regional and international events relevant to its competence, the Arab strategy for older persons, the decision of Arab summit on supporting Somalia and the decision of the Arab Summit on supporting internally displaced persons in Arab countries.
