This came in the State of Qatar's speech delivered by Hamad Mohammed al-Suwaidi, political researcher at the Department of Human Rights at the Foreign Ministry today, during a public debate on the oral briefing of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights on the situation of human rights in Yemen, which took place under the second item on the agenda of the Human Rights Council in Geneva, within its current 40th session..

The State of Qatar expressed its deep concern at the continuing violations committed against the brotherly people of Yemen and the great humanitarian suffering for many years as a result of the fact that it has been the victim of conflicts and wars that only serve to destroy the country and displace the people.

It also stressed the importance of ensuring effective, impartial and independent investigations into all violations committed against the Yemeni people, holding all those responsible accountable and taking all necessary measures to ensure that the victims have their rights, justice and equity and ensure that such violations are not repeated.

The State of Qatar welcomed the conclusion by the Yemeni parties of the Stockholm Agreement, "We value the efforts of the United Nations and the international community in this regard, and we affirm that this agreement is the first step towards a comprehensive political solution which is the only way to put an end to this conflict.

"We hope that all the parties of the conflict in Yemen would bear the responsibility and show serious political will to continue the full implementation of the next stages of the agreement. "

The State of Qatar reiterated its firm stance on the unity, independence and territorial integrity of Yemen and its commitment to its humanitarian and moral duty to provide various kinds of humanitarian aid and assistance to the brotherly Yemeni people.
