HE Official Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Lolwah Al Khater met separately with HE Deputy Spokesman for the US Department of State Robert Palladino, and HE Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Tim Lenderking, during her visit to the United States.
During the two meetings, they exchanged views on the relations between the United States and Qatar and the importance of communication and keeping the public informed about the course of events. They also discussed possible opportunities for enhancing bilateral relations between the two friendly countries and ways to achieve collective security for the Gulf region and the Middle East.
HE the Official Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs held meetings with a number of US think tanks, including the Stimson Center, the Carnegie Center, the United States Institute of Peace, the Wilson Center, the Aspen Institute, the McCain Institute, the Brookings Center and the Center for the National Interest.
She also delivered a lecture at Georgetown University in Washington entitled "Defining the Narrative: Media and Politics in the Middle East" and held an open meeting with the Women's Foreign Policy Group, moderated by Ambassador Anne Patterson.
During the visit, HE the Official Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs participated in a session of the Gulf International Forum in Washington, where she highlighted that the Qatari-US relations are proceeding in an excellent manner, pointing to the convening of the second strategic dialogue between the two countries last January, the expansion of Al Udeid military base in Qatar, and the signing of memorandum of understanding on combating the financing of terrorism between Qatar and the United States.
She pointed to the existence of six US universities in Qatar, describing Qatari-US cooperation as "promising".
HE Lolwah Al Khater said the session that Qatar, in the first 24 hours after the blockade, formed a major crisis cell, pointing to Qatar's rapid response to this dangerous situation by diversifying the import of food and medicine from all over the world, diversifying domestic production and supporting small projects. Qatar also launched a power plant aimed at securing energy and water for the coming years, she said.
