Doha Forum Returns in December to Discuss Governance in a Multipolar World

Doha – Information Office – 08 May

The Doha Forum's organizing committee announced that the 19th edition will take place in December 14 and 15, under the theme of "Reimagining Governance In A Multipolar World."

The annual global policy forum seeks to build on the success of last year's edition, which has seen exciting dialogues with world leaders and enriched by the adoption of the new Partnership Model Forum. This year's edition also marks the launch of the Doha Forum Award, which will be awarded for the first time this year to an individual or institution that has been able to achieve a tangible achievement stemming from the core values of the Doha Forum: dialogue, diplomacy and pluralism. The winner or winner will be announced during the next edition of the Doha Forum in December.

The Doha 2019 Forum will also witness the return of the strategic partners with whom the Forum has collaborated in the past, including the International Crisis Group, the European Council on Foreign Relations and the Munich Security Conference. Each will establish a panel discussion and experience and vision on a range of the most pressing major challenges in the world. It will discuss a range of topics that will include security, defense, humanitarian crises and external relations.

HE Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Lolwa Al Khater said that the world is enduring great transformations in the balance of power, policies, and in international trade. She added that in light of the huge technological developments and the deterioration of issues related to immigration and security, a real need emerged to hold a dialogue and form a consensus regarding these issues.

Last year's edition included a number of policy makers and business leaders from around the world who engaged in a dialogue on the policies needed to make the world a better place. The list of speakers included HE President of the Republic of Ecuador Lenin Moreno, UN Secretary-General Antnio Guterres, HE Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, among other prominent international figures.
