HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani met on Sunday with HH Minister of Foreign Affairs of the sisterly United Arab Emirates (UAE) Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who is visiting the country.

The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries condemned discrimination and violence resulting from Islamophobia, stressing the need for exerting collective efforts and solidarity in combating religious intolerance and promoting a culture of peace and mutual understanding.

The State of Qatar called for adopting a comprehensive approach that addresses the root causes of Islamophobia, stressing that disrespect for religions and incitement to religious hatred under the pretext of democratic rights and freedom of expression only leads to social disharmony and more human rights violations, which requires combating Islamophobia and eliminating intolerance in all its forms.

The State of Qatar has underscored the responsibility of states in protecting journalists and ensuring a safe environment for them to perform their work independently, stressing the need to protect them during conflicts as well as in times of peace.

The State of Qatar underlined the need to address the root causes of the global drug problem and not just address its manifestations, in light of the expansion and diversity of drug types and markets, especially synthetic drugs, and the 23 percent increase in drug abuse over the past decade.

HE Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, met with HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Pakistan Ali bin Mubarak Al Khater.
