HE Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr Ahmed bin Hassan Al Hammadi held on Wednesday a farewell ceremony in honor of HE the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to the State of Qatar Li Chen, HE the Ambassador of Australia to the State of Qatar Axel Wabenhorst and HE the Ambassador of the Republic of Burkina Faso Adama Compaore, on the occasion of ending their tenure in the country.

The State of Qatar chaired the pledging conference for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).

The State of Qatar stressed the importance of the role of the Human Rights Council and of The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights in working to end the discriminatory unilateral coercive measures imposed on Qatar by a number of States in the region and to hold those responsible accountable.

The United Nations Office for Combating Terrorism and the International Center for Sports Security (ICSS) today signed an agreement to strengthen cooperation in the prevention and control of terrorism and to protect vulnerable targets in the context of major sporting events.

HE Assistant Secretary-General and Regional Humanitarian Coordinator for the Syria Crisis, Panos Moumtzis, hailed Qatar's positive attitudes towards the Syrian issue and the Syrian people, and its continued support to the United Nations and its competent agencies, praising its implementation of all its humanitarian obligations to the various international organizations.

The State of Qatar stressed the need to confront all threats and severe challenges resulting from climate change and its impact on the scarcity of water resources, adding that the challenges facing agriculture in ensuring global food security and the sustainable management of natural resources were multifaceted.
