In keeping up with supporting the kind initiative that His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani participated in alongside His Excellency Mr. Beji Caid Essebsi, President of the Republic of Tunisia, and His Excellency Mr. Francois Hollande, President of the French Republic, we meet today to support the brotherly nation of Tunisia in this station of its successful political transition, to renew the invitation to the international community to partner in the economic summit and investment of Tunisia, and our leaders have agreed to organize this conference, and configuring all required conditions required for its success. The friendly partnership between the State of Qatar and the Republic of France for this conference arises from its interest in showing solidarity with the brotherly Tunisian people, and its belief in their ability to move Tunisia towards prosperity, and heading towards a bright future, which lights up its past and future, and not only spreads its benefits towards the brothers in Tunisia, but to the region and the world. And I must acknowledge the role of the partners that have supported this conference, especially Canada and the World Bank.
Distinguished guests,
We had many discussions in the past with the brothers in Tunisia about issues the conference will address, and the discussions concluded that the conference will address some of them:
- Dialogue about the Tunisian economy: challenges and expectations.
- Opportunities, trade, and investment projects.
- Supporting big and small projects.
- Opening employment opportunities for youth.
To promote international cooperation, and to support the countries that are undergoing transitions, the partnership at this conference is an experiment to international efforts to support the Tunisian experiment, whether in the economic field or overcoming many challenges. The nations sponsoring this conference look to your support for its success, and are awaiting your pledges and their translation into projects on the ground where the brotherly Tunisian people can pick up their fruit.
