Qatar Condemns Bombing of Field Hospital in Tripoli

The State of Qatar has strongly condemned the aerial bombing of Al-Sawani field hospital, south of the Libyan capital Tripoli, in which five medical workers were killed and others injured.

In a statement issued Sunday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the bombing of the hospital is a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law which aims to ensure the safety of patients and medical staff working in hospitals and maintain health facilities in times of war.

The statement stressed that the bombing of the hospital necessitates an urgent international investigation in order to bring the perpetrators to international justice, calling on the international community to take urgent action to protect civilian targets.

The Ministry expressed the condolences of the State of Qatar to the families of the victims and to the government and people of Libya, wishing the injured a speedy recovery.
