The State of Qatar has welcomed the initiative presented by Fayez Al-Sarraj, Chairman of the Presidential Council of the Libyan National Reconciliation Government, which is internationally recognized, to get out of the current crisis.

In a statement today, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the State of Qatar hopes that all Libyan parties will respond positively to the initiative to hold a Libyan forum in coordination with the United Nations mission to reach a comprehensive political settlement that will maintain Libya's sovereignty and territorial integrity and achieve its people's aspirations for security and stability.

The State of Qatar looks forward to the international community's support for the initiative and to condemn all forms of aggression against civilians in Tripoli and all the cities of Libya and to put in place appropriate international guarantees and mechanisms ensuring the non-recurrence of armed aggression and to stop intimidating innocent civilians, the statement added.

The statement reiterated the support of the State of Qatar for the efforts of the envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations and the Skhirat agreement and its support for the will of the Libyan people to build a state of law and institutions that can accommodate all political forces without exclusion of any party.
